Wives
Allowed to Shore up Team India's Morale, Girlfriends Still Banned: Report
BCCI
has reportedly allowed Indian cricketers to host their wives on the tour of
Australia. The ban on girlfriends however, still remains .
Indian cricketers will soon be united with their partners
on the long and grueling tour of Australia. According to media reports, the
Board of Cricket Control in India has allowed the cricketers' wives to join
them Down Under. There will however be no scenes of Anushka Sharma cheering
star batsman Virat Kohli from the stands. The ban on girlfriends joining the
team on tours still remains. (Related: MS Dhoni feels Team India can bounce back vs Australia)
Consequently,
the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran
Ashwin, Umesh Yadav and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni could see their wives
flying into Melbourne ahead of the Boxing Day Test. India are trailing the
four-match series 0-2 and the Board feels the move could rejuvenate the
struggling tourists.
India,
who reached Australia in November for a bilateral Test series and ODI
tri-series, will remain in the country till the end of their World Cup
campaign. The title clash is scheduled on March 29.
The
Indian Board had previously curbed the length of stay for WAGS on international
tours following a disastrous Test series in England. Kohli, who had a horror
series with the bat was panned by critics for spending more time with his
Bollywood superstar girlfriend than at the crease.
